“DUAMENEFA” COLLABORATES WITH OPAL SPORTS UK

The official collaborations between the Opal Sports of United Kingdom and the Duamenefa Regional Tournament of the Volta Region of Ghana was proudly facilitated by Patrick Amazing Doamekpor, a Ghanaian born sports development expert who is now resident in the United States of America, Mr. Doamekpor initiated the collaborations to promote the youth of the volta region during this year’s tournament which kick starts in June 2019.

The executive director of Opal Sports UK. Mr. Cherno Samba who is a world acclaimed football maestro and an international recognized scout and trainer agreed to collaborate with the Duamenefa regional tournament during their meeting in the UK. This development is considered a step in the right direction towards the upliftment of sports in the Volta Region.

The “Duamenefa” Regional Tournament, formally known as Duamenefa Super Gala and Marathon is an annual sporting event instituted in the year 2017 by a Private Commercial Radio, Fafaa 100.3 Fm Dzodze in the Volta Region of Ghana, with its associate Non-Governmental Organization called “Duamenefa” Foundation.

The name “Duamenefa” meaning “let’s leave in peace” foundation is vested with the mandate to promote and foster peaceful coexistence of people within their various communities through resolution of spiritual and diabolical conflicts by means of engaging relevant stakeholders on radio, to educate the perpetrators to abide by the provisions of the 1992 constitution of the Republic of Ghana.

The Duamenefa Foundation has over 15,000 registered and certified volunteers, and its membership is scattered across various communities all over the Volta Region with continuous registration of new members on daily basis, therefore the need for the “Duamenefa” regional tournament cannot be overemphasized.

The 2018 edition recorded 77 football teams in a competition of 133 matches played over a period of 3 months at various locations in the volta region with the finals played at Dzosec Park Dzodze, where the tournament was promoted to regional status by the regional director of sports Mr. Amponfi Kwame Jnr. Who described the event as the “Olympic Games” of the Volta region; over 20,000 spectators with dignitaries from all walks of life were present when the declaration was made. 77 marathon athletes from different locations of the volta region tussle the 26 kilometer distant to climax the event.

It is expected that over 120 football teams would participate in this year’s tournament while over 100 athletes are expected as against the 77 numbers of the year 2018.

The 2019 edition was launched on Fafaa 100.3 Fm, GTV sports plus and Matro TV respectively. Registration of participants has begun with registration forms on sale at various locations of the volta region, while fixing and fixtures would be done in the month of May to herald the tournament within the second week of June  to September 2019

The chief executive officer of Fafaa 100.3 Fm Mr Emmanuel Ketaman commended the effort of Mr. Patrick Amazing Dormekpor for initiating this collaboration between Opal Sports UK and the Duamenefa Foundation, he reiterated that the efforts of Mr Cherno Sanba in terms of promotion of sports has been ringing bell all over the world, and he is welcome to volta region to see talents for himself.

He therefore encourage the youth to intensify their training skills and showcase same to the international community Mr. Ketaman made this statement during an interview on GTV sports plus, and Maetro TV  in company of Rev. Emmanuel Nartey, an executive council member of Duamenefa foundation in continuation of the media launching of the tournament.
