When the families of Rita Pico, a 27 year old girl who disappeared under mysterious circumstances from Dzita petitioned the Duamenefa Foundation, a human rights social intervention NGO of Fafaa 100.3 Fm Dzodze, to investigate and unravel the mysteries behind the strange disappearance of their daughter, little did they know that would mark the genesis of deeper investigations of a Pandora’s box of allegations of ritual killings and human sacrifices to the gods and sea gods alike.
Dzita, a community in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region with the following suburbs; Agbledomi-Fusime, Fiatoweme, Nudoanyi, Mladekodzi, Atietorme Kafuikorpe, Anyiehe, Dziehe, Meet Me There, is also surrounded by Anyanui- Korpega, Xorsekordzi, Wededeanu, Asito, Agblega, Glife, Tunu, Bomingo Atiteti – Agorkedzi, Fuveme, Kporkpogbor, Savietula and the Atlantic ocean. The age long tradition of fishing expeditions by the people of Dzita and its environs cannot be overemphasized as the people do travel as far as the western regions and parts of the republic of Benin and the Ivory Coast with their company of fishermen to trade in the art of fishing for the sole purpose of earning their daily bread. This development has necessitated certain individuals to petition the President of the Republic of Ghana, through the IGP, that the police within the jurisdiction were ineffective and should be withdrawn, whereas when Fafaa 100.3 Fm interviewed the police in respect of the aforementioned crimes, the Divisional Commander ACP Alex Amenyo and ASP Dorkunor of the Anloga command says the police also did their very best to fish out the perpetrators, but they usually would leave no trace after the crime had been committed. The police find it very difficult to associate with investigations of spiritual matters, the divisional commander even offered his personal number on air to any good-spirited informant on any of the issues. While the people continue to leave under uncertain conditions for the fear of “who is next? ” the Rita Pico family took it upon themselves to seek the interventions of the Duamenefa Foundation in a petition dated 15th October, 2018.
The Duamenefa Foundation of Fafaa 100.3 Fm, led by its Executive President and Chief Executive Officer of Fafaa 100.3 Fm, Mr. Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe has over the period of 9 years being involved in interventions into spiritual and diabolical allegations of ritual murders, invocations of the wrath of the gods and offering of human beings for servitude to the gods, a direct affront to the provisions of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana. The foundation has over the years received over 2,800 petitions of spiritual investigations, while 307 lives have been saved through investigations and interventions. Other petitions were referred to the appropriate state institutions such as the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice, the Department of Social Welfare, the Traditional Authorities who normally collaborate with the National Commission for Civic Education within the various communities of the incidence and the Ghana Police Service, in line with the public order act.
The Duamenefa Foundation attracts a lot of volunteers from every community within the Volta Region and beyond and has registered over 15,000 volunteers as at May, 2019. The membership collaborates with other lawful state institutions to promote peaceful coexistence of people in their various communities through investigation, research and education into outmoded Christian, traditional and cultural practices that infringe on the fundamental human rights of the individuals; therefore, the families of Rita Pico, who having exhausted all other legitimate avenues to find their daughter to no avail, decided to petition the Duamenefa Foundation of Fafaa 100.3 Fm
- 75 days after the receipt of this petition, the Duamenefa Foundation and Fafaa 100.3 Fm through their undercover team, led by Mr. Ketaman has been able to unveil an alleged suspect (name withheld) in connection with the strange disappearance of Rita Pico, quickly the Keta Divisional Commander ASP Alexander Amenyo was duly prompted by the Chief Executive Officer of Fafaa 100.3 Fm, Mr. Ketaman Evortepe. A due diligence was conducted by the police, and upon good satisfaction based on the confessions of the suspect just as Mr. Ketaman Evortepe unveiled to the police, the suspect was moved to Shamma, Takoradi, in the Western Region of Ghana, the jurisdiction of the crime where more suspects were arrested. Most of them fishermen and deity practitioners from Dzita, resident in Shamma. This matter is now before the Shamma Court of Takoradi.
- The next follow up was the alleged ritual murder of Emma Yali, a 9 year old boy who was decapitated and his body was thrown into a lake by an unknown people.
The undercover team of the Duamenefa Foundation narrowed on the Yali family for investigations into the mysterious death of their 9 year old son by the name Emma Yali.
During the course of investigations, a member of the Yali family by the name Anuma made some serious allegations on air by saying, “ My siblings went to collect a fishing net from one “Payo” of Dzelukorpe and the said fishing net was accompanied with a deity which required human sacrifice, hence the brothers used their 9 year old son, Emma Yali to satisfy the deities before the Payo fishing net could arrive. When Payo Avorgbedor the owner of the net was contacted to respond to the allegations, he denied vehemently and said that it was a lie, whereas the Yali family kept trading allegations and counter allegations against each other on the airwaves of Fafaa 100.3 Fm. This led the Anloga Police Commander ASP Dorkunor to affect the arrest of key principal suspects, by the names Willie Yali and Kofie Yali, both frontline managers of the Payo Avorgbedor fishing net of Dzita, Agbledomi, and the matter was duly processed by the police before the Court at Keta where the court ordered their remand and the two were remanded whiles investigations continue.
- The Duamenefa Foundation of Fafaa 100.3 Fm furthered their investigations into another allegation of the strange disappearance of a carpenter by the name Gershon, upon serious undercover investigations, the Duamenefa team of Fafaa 100.3 Fm led by Mr. Ketaman Evortepe again uncovered very strange allegations of accusations trading undertone in the Yali family, that the man carpenter Gershon was allegedly murdered to death and his body was wrapped in a sack together with his tools and dumped into the fishing net of Payo Avorgbedor in a bid to satisfy the sea gods for a bumper catch, the allegations have it that some frontline managers of the said Payo fishing crew were directly responsible for the alleged ritual performance for a bumper harvest. The Anloga Police Commander ASP Dorkunor, was again prompted by Mr. Ketaman and the commander acted swiftly by inviting the front line managers of the Payo Avorgbedor fishing net and upon good satisfactions through confessional statements of some of the suspects the following people were arrested:
- Control – the man who controlled the boat at the time
- Yao Yali – a front line manager of Payo Avorgbedor fishing crew
- Siva Sogah – a front line manager of same group
- Senyo Yali – another front line manager of the crew
- December Yali – A member of the same crew
In all seven front line managers of the Payo Avorgbedor crew have been arrested by the police, processed to court and were remanded on court order.
In another development, allegations of ritual issues associated with the man Payo Avorgbedor have been reported to the Keta Police Division by the Tsinyo family of Keta, and copied to Fafaa 100.3 Fm, since January, 2017.
Meanwhile Mr. Anuma Yali, who claimed to have given his life to Jesus Christ during the course of the investigations by the Duamenefa Foundation of Fafaa 100.3 Fm, was also picked up in connections with further investigations into the matter by the police. Anuma Yali is also remanded in police custody while investigations continue.
Destruction of Idols after Anuma Yali gave his life to Christ.
Another strange development on allegations of ritual murder and human sacrifices within Dzita and its environs has to do with a “breaking news” of an allegation of a woman who was tied and confined to a room within Accra House number 2 of Dzita on Saturday the 25th day of May, 2019. The controversial room where the woman had been tie allegedly belongs to the Amegakpo family, and Mr. Victor Amegakpo, a transporter who plies Ghana to Lagos, Nigeria has been mentioned to the police as the owner of the said room, whereas when Mr. Victor Amegakpo was interviewed on Fafaa 100.3 Fm in respect of the allegations leveled against him, he claimed that the room in question rather belongs to his cousin called Togbi Tsidzagbedzo. The said Togbi upon interrogations on the airwaves of Fafaa Fm also also denied ownership of the room and suggested that the room rather belongs to the cousin Victor Amegakpo. The people of Dzita in a mob attack destroyed some properties of Victor Amegakpo on the day of the incidence, the Duamenefa foundation quickly intervened through the breaking news, brought the polices’ attention on air to address the people and calm was restored while investigations into the real owner of the room and the vandals of Victor Amegakpo property have been taken over by the regional police command of the Volta Region for further investigation.
The interesting questions begging for answers are:
- Who owned the room in Accra House Number Two where the sick woman called Yetsa has been tied?
- Who tied the woman, allegedly waiting for sacrifice?
- Who are the vandals who took the law upon themselves to destroy a property belonging to Mr. Victor Amegakpo?
The regional police command is working assiduously to uncover the recent developments while Fafaa Fm follows closely through monitoring and reportage to support the police’s efforts.
Next on the list of petitions to Fafaa Fm for ritual sacrifices investigations is “ KOBEE”, a 12 year old pupil of Dzita L A Basic School, who disappeared mysteriously since the 25th day of July, 2015, the matter having been reported to the police. Other allegations of ritual murders, pacification of the sea gods for bumper harvest and trading in human blood for ritual purposes aforementioned are being investigated by the police while the Duamenefa Foundation of Fafaa 100.3 Fm dives undercover to support the police service to sanitize Dzita and its environment.
Meanwhile the people of Dzita and its environment are joyful over the efforts of the undercover team of the Duamenefa Foundation of Fafaa 100.3 Fm Dzodze, and the Ghana Police Service Keta, towards the recent investigations’ arrests and detention of suspects in connection with the allegations of ritual sacrifices to the gods, this has restored much confidence of the people in the police and they can now heave a sigh of relief while the police continue their investigations. The Duamenefa Foundation of Fafaa 100.3 Fm on the other hand also commend the efforts of the Ghana Police Service Keta Division for their swift responses anytime the undercover team prompts them with their findings
Watch out for further details as it unfolds…
